The purpose of the International Traditional Karate Institute is to carry out researh, study, development, and propagation of correct karate training and teaching, regardless of karate style.
Our goal is to help improve the quality of karate teaching worldwide. This mission is to be carried out by personal research, attending seminars, writing and proving of papers, articles, and thesis regarding karate. We are concerned with all aspects of the art. The physical aspects must display the correct and most efficient biomechanics. The mental aspects must continuously promote correct attitude and clear judgement. The spiritual aspects must find a way of correct expression of an undisturbed soul. Our members are eligible for participation in national and international events that promote and improve the above mentioned karate qualities. The instructors and students derive great benefit from an organization that has no political agenda. They constantly mention the improvements to their technique power, sharpness, and overall body awareness since they have become members of the Institute. I would like to extend an invitation to you to become part of this think tank of senior instructors seeking the depths of knowledge that karate has to offer.

![]() After several years of inner searching and avid observation of those committed to the I.T.K.I. Our symbol finally revealed itself and now is available as a patch to our members only. The big orange circle represents the Sun, the circle itself... continuity. The pyramid at the top symbolizes stability. At the center is the Bunbu Ichi (pen and sword), which stands for balance in life. Power(the sword) and Wisdon(the pen) is essential for this. Below that is the Kanji symbol for Kaisen, which means to constantly seek personal improvement. Surrounding the Sun are olive leaves, which represents peace |
