Masters View Point
The study
of concepts and principles are the most important things to study in any
field. Individual technique is only one quick and easy way to learn things.
Each person who becomes adept, in whatever subject matter, has developed
a methodology by which to make himself or herself successful at the highest
level possible. The method used is based on certain preferences, experiences,
strengths, weaknesses, etc. Remember, though, that these are limited to
the individual's personal experiences. While in study, one should continuously
ask logical questions in order to clarify and to learn the real reasons
for this or that. If the situation doesn't lend itself to questions for
the instructor, well then, ask them to yourself in order to find the true
essence of the matter. This is the only way to truly find the essence
and understanding of what each ingredient contributes to the subject at
hand. Imagine, if you may, that there isn't that ingredient present in
your cupboard at the moment and that you are in a whole other country.
I'm sure that you could find another ingredient that would take the place
of what you need if you really understood why it was necessary in the
first place. Study this idea deeply so that you can become more adept
at your craft.
